Sixty-Four Years Between Majors
North Texas last hosted a men's major in 1963, when a 23-year-old Jack Nicklaus took the Wanamaker Trophy at Dallas Athletic Club. The championship returns on May 20–23, 2027 to Fields Ranch East — the Gil Hanse course at the heart of PGA Frisco, now the home of the PGA of America itself.
That gap matters for one practical reason: nobody in this market has current muscle memory for moving people to a major. Organisers are planning for roughly 200,000 visitors across the week and upward of 400 private aircraft into the D-FW airport system, on a 660-acre campus that also holds the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, the PGA District and two championship courses. Every hotel room from Legacy West to McKinney is in play, and every road into Frisco funnels through the same handful of exits.
The people who enjoy that week will be the ones who decided how they were getting in and out before the tee sheet was even set.
The Championship Week Command Center
Championship week is seven days, not four. Practice rounds run Monday to Wednesday and are where sponsors do most of their entertaining; the crowds and the credential pressure build through Thursday to Sunday.

Dinners in Frisco, Legacy West and Uptown Dallas run late all week. A round-trip on the books means nobody in your group is deciding whether they are fine to drive.
Don't Three-Putt the Ride Home
A major of this size is normally run on off-site parking with shuttle buses to the gate, and PGA Frisco is expected to follow the same pattern with a rideshare hub inside the complex. The official traffic plan lands closer to the event — check pgachampionship.com nearer the date — but the shape of the day is predictable.
You park in a field. You queue for a bus. You ride to the gate. Then, after eight hours in Texas May heat, you do all of it again in reverse with everyone else who just watched the same putt drop. That last leg is where a championship day stops being enjoyable, and it is the leg a chauffeur removes entirely.
Do I need a parking pass?
Not with QTS — there is no personal car to park, so there is nothing to buy. If someone in your group prefers to drive themselves, a pass is strongly recommended for a championship of this scale, and buying the correct pass for the correct lot is that driver's responsibility. Passes are sold by the championship, not by us.
Where does the vehicle actually meet us?
Sedans and executive SUVs can normally use the credentialed drop-off or the rideshare hub. Stretch limousines and motorcoaches are a different question — a championship footprint keeps no staging area for oversized vehicles, so those groups meet the chauffeur at a nearby legal pick-up point instead of at the gate. Your dispatcher confirms the exact spot when you book, and the driver sends a pin before you start walking.

A Bag Room on Wheels

How far is PGA Frisco from DFW Airport and downtown Dallas?
PGA Frisco sits roughly 35 miles north of downtown Dallas. From DFW International or Dallas Love Field it is normally a 40–50 minute drive, from Fort Worth closer to an hour, and from the Legacy West and Frisco hotel cluster 10–20 minutes. Those are ordinary-traffic numbers — championship week will add to every one of them, which is what your pickup time is built around.
What size vehicle fits a foursome with clubs?
An executive SUV comfortably carries four passengers with four tour bags, which is the classic foursome. Add players or bags and a Mercedes Sprinter takes the group and roughly a dozen bags without anyone holding a driver on their lap. Beyond that we move into minibus and coach territory, which is how sponsor groups and hospitality blocks travel.
Does the chauffeur wait, or do we call for a pickup?
Championship days are booked as dedicated, as-directed time: the same chauffeur brings your group in, stays through the round, and drives everyone back. On a major that is not a luxury — when 200,000 people are cycling through one property across a week, an on-demand car is exactly what is not available at the moment you want to leave.
How far ahead should we book for May 2027?
Earlier than feels necessary. Ticket demand for this championship has already set records, hotel inventory across Frisco, Plano and Legacy West will commit long before the week arrives, and every operator in North Texas draws from the same finite pool of vehicles and vetted chauffeurs. Corporate weeks and anything larger than an SUV should be locked in as far out as you are able.
